Immediate past Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has appealed to members of the ruling party to give the president a freehand to nominate his ministers to advance the Better Ghana.
He said President John Mahama needs the support and prayers of every member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be able to solve the socio-economic crisis in the country.
"We must all calm down; whether you are in or out of government, there is something you can contribute towards building the party and government".
Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo made the call on Asempa FM�s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday.
The Tema West parliamentary hopeful who has been in hibernation after the 2012 general election was tipped by many to head one of the top ministries in the Mahama-led administration.
Unfortunately, the former Local Government Minister who was voted the best Minister in 2012 was nowhere to be found in the list of Ministers nominated by the president.
But on Ekosii Sen, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo said he is not bothered by the development because "God�s time is the best".
He noted that no one is indispensable in the NDC and so it is no news if he was not given a ministerial portfolio.
The former Local Government Minister said that given the intensive campaign in December, he needs to rest to regain enough strength for the job ahead.
�Upon sober reflection, I have decided to stay at the background and help government achieve its goals� he added.
Ofosu-Ampfo also revealed that he is now into poultry and crop farming to keep himself busy.
"I am also studying because I want to be an expert in local government administration" he added.
He commended the president for giving the youth in the NDC the chance to contribute their quota to national development.
The former Minister admonished the young ministers to be humble; learn on the job and not allow themselves to be carried away by pride.
Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo urged the opposition parties to give President Mahama some breathing space to prove that he is the man for the job.
"I think the criticisms from the opposition parties are too early in the day. The president must be allowed to settle down and I believe that the president will deliver on the mandate of the people and the better Ghana will continue to persist".
