President Mahama on Friday gave government�s assurance and commitment to ensuring the passage of the right to information bill and the broadcasting bill. According to the President, he has no �fear of the Right to Information Bill� it is not a monster and I think that Parliament should pass it.� The Right to Information Bill for the past 10 years has been going back and forth from one government to the other while the broadcasting bill is still yet to be presented to parliament for consideration and passage. �When we talk about Ghana being the model of democracy, a large part of the credit goes to the free and vibrant media landscape that we have and so we must continue to guarantee their freedom and independence at the same time.� President Mahama made this comment when he met some journalist at the Flagstaff House on Friday. He suggested that �there should be some form of self regulation that introduces responsibility in making society move forward and making society be democratic, we don�t injure the same society through our irresponsibility.�
