NPP Keeps Vigil For Bawumia

HUNDREDS OF NPP followers in Kumasi over the weekend forfeited their sleep to pray fervently for Gods protection for the partys Vice Presidential Candidate in the 2012 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Dr. Bawumia recently escaped death when the Land Cruiser vehicle on which he travelling was involved in a dangerous accident. Organizers of the prayer session, Coalition for Truth (CFT), a pressure group in the NPP, believed some spiritual forces were working against their party leaders. They therefore decided to hold the inter-denominational watch night service to seek Gods face to help preserve the lives of their leaders, notably Dr. Bawumia. The massively attended prayer session was organized on Friday and Saturday at the Heroes Park at the Baba Yara Stadium. Several leading men of God were invited to preach to the people who were on their feet for several hours. This was followed with worship, praises and fervent prayers throughout the night. All the pastors that preached at the event asked Ghanaians to pray for the country. They maintained all was not well for the country, especially in the spirit, which was reflecting in the physical. According to the preachers, Gods favour was gradually leaving the country, hence the numerous hardships. The attendants of the prayer session also prayed for Gods protection for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP flagbearer for the 2012 polls, and all other party gurus. They also prayed to God to preserve the lives of the Supreme Court judges sitting on the case in which the NPP is contesting the results of the 2012 elections. Later in a chat with DAILY GUIDE, Andy Owusu, director of operations, CFT, said some men of God who had seen the danger ahead advised his group to organize the prayer session. He promised that his group would organize similar spiritual events to seek Gods face and protection for their party leaders across the country. Owusu urged all believers in the country not to sit and fold their arms in these difficult times, insisting that Ghana needed prayers to overcome its numerous problems. According to Owusu, President Mahama knew that he did not win the 2012 polls so he was using some bad tactics to hang on to power, stressing, It is only prayers that would help Ghana overcome its quandaries. Monica Afriyie aka Mama China said they believed that God answered prayers so they would continually pray to Him to help grant Nana Akufo-Addo victory in court.
