Bill Gates Praises Ghana�s Immunization Strategy

Founder of Microsoft and world�s second richest man Bill Gates has praised Ghana for successfully conducting immunization programs to prevent children under the age of five from suffering preventable diseases. Bill Gates said this during a meeting with President John Mahama at the Flagstaff house on Tuesday. Mr. Gates who is in the country to evaluate progress of projects run by the BILL and MELINDA Gates foundation said he would study Ghana�s immunization strategy and use it to help other African countries. Mr. Gates also indicated that his foundation will be looking to invest in other areas to enhance the quality of lives of Ghanaians. According to him, �health is the primary focus of our foundation and great work is an inspiration to us. This is something we want to help to support ourselves and learn how we can duplicate the good work in other areas.� He indicated that he is excited about the work Ghana has put into the health system. Meanwhile, President Mahama called for more collaboration on other fronts such as maternal mortality. The President indicated that �in the area of MDGs we are getting good support from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation and in the school feeding programme as well that has helped in the nutrition of children in the rural areas.� According to the President it has helped to increase school enrollment because one meal a day is something that a lot of families look up to.
