Kwami Sefa Kayi, popularly known as the Chairman-General, the award winning broadcaster of the flagship programme, "Kokrokoo" on Peace FM, has stated that he agrees with President John Dramani Mahama's assertion that the style used in structuring some morning shows is lazy, but stressed however that technocrats and experts would not want to appear on political shows because of unnecessary politicization of their views and constant vilification. �We have polarized this country on partisan lines to the extent that, we make it look as though there are no knowledgeable individuals in this country anymore. So everything ones says is seen through political lenses and for the fact that these experts and professionals would not want to be caught in the line of fire, which is full of insults and vilification, would not comment on serious national issues,� the Ace broadcaster said. The 'Chairman-General' recounted an incident in the recent past where two professionals and academicians with long service in the educational sector in Ghana were called names in the media because he sought their views on the duration of the Senior High School (SHS) education. �When the issue of three or four years with regards to the SHS came up, I called Professor Addea-Mensah a former Vice-chancellor of the University of Ghana and Professor Djambga, the former Director General of WAEC for their views on the issue having in mind the experience and long service in the educational sector of this country. A government official came out to say these two academicians are not qualified to speak to the issue because the two stated that the duration should remain four years,� the Chairman revealed. Chairman Kwami Sefa-Kayi�s submission comes on the heels of President Mahama�s observation that the sensational nature of radio presentation in the country, especially on morning shows, makes it difficult for pertinent issues affecting the ordinary Ghanaian to be highlighted. �Radio is the most potent media vehicle and it shapes perceptions of people and so even more than newspapers, radio must get it right in terms of shaping our people�s perception but often the style that is used is very lazy� the President said. President Mahama made the comments during a meeting with senior editors and executives of the Ghana Journalists Associations at the Flagstaff House in Accra on Friday. Speaking on Asempa Fm�s afternoon political show, the 2012 Radio and Television Personality award winner, concurred with the President but blamed the politicians for this problem because �If a technocrat or expert airs his views on matters of public interest and it does not favor one party, that party would come after him.� He maintained that �if we stop politicizing everything in the country we will move forward�.
