Vice President Amissah-Arthur Woos Investors

The Vice President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur, has called on businesses in the Eurasian region to invest in Ghana. Mr Amissah-Arthur made the call when he addressed the 16th Eurasian Economic Summit as the Guest of Honour in Istanbul, Turkey on Wednesday. The summit is an annual gathering which brings together high-level statesmen, bureaucrats, captains of business and private sector representatives from Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Addressing the Summit, the Vice President said Ghana with its stable democracy, quality workforce and strategic geographic location provides tremendous opportunity for investors to anchor their businesses in the country in order to target the West African market. �Ghana is the second largest in the ECOWAS sub region with 10 percent of a combined GDP and 8 percent of the population. In 2011, Ghana recorded a growth rate GDP of 14.3percent; the highest in Africa and the third highest in the world then.� He continued saying, �within ECOWAS, Ghana with a population of four million has had democratic political stability, since 1992, we have had six national election and governments have changed which was rare in Africa. Our growth prospects are also good; we are currently the ninth largest economy in Africa, our share in Africa�s GDP is improving.� The Vice President noted that Ghana had significant quality in its workforce while �illiteracy levels in Ghana have been high since independence and we have had significant ethnic harmony in Ghana.�
