Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, Gomoa West District Chief Executive (DCE), has congratulated President John Dramani Mahama on attaining 100 days in office. He said though his administration had been confronted with many challenges, including scarcity of power and water and labour unrest, the President was able to keep his head above the waters. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Apam, the DCE said the frantic efforts President Mahama was making to restore power supply to normalcy deserved commendation. He said people who had been making capital out of the power outages would soon be put to shame. Mr Aidoo-Mensah said despite the challenges, the President was able to appoint his ministers and deputy ministers some of whom were being vetted by the Appointment Committee of Parliament. He said he had full confidence in President Mahama�s ability to transform the country for the better before his term of office ended. The DCE expressed concern about how some Ghanaians had been denigrating the presidency and urged them to bear in mind how Ghanaians were trained to respect authority. �Democracy and freedom of speech do not permit us as Ghanaians to throw away our cultural values,� he said. He appealed to people who were castigating the President due to the petition filed at the Supreme Court by some leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) challenging the results of the 2012 Presidential Election to stop the act as an "accused person could only be said to be guilty when proved by a competent court of law." �This is the only country that we have, let us join forces to make it better and stop dragging its name and that of the President into disrepute,� Mr Aidoo-Mensah said.
