The President of the Catholic Bishops conference, Most Reverend Bishop Osei Bonsu has attributed the spate of corruption in the country to the lack of integrity among people in responsible positions. According to him, the nation will be fighting a losing battle with corruption if attention is not given to appointing or electing people with integrity to positions of power. Bishop Osei Bonsu made the remarks on Monday during the launch of a national anti-corruption campaign by the centre for freedom and accuracy in collaboration with private investigators, TIGER EYE in Accra. Rev Osei Bonsu in his speech bemoaned what he described as the growing nepotism and kickbacks in the political landscape. The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Marietta Brew Appiah Oppong who represented the President, said Ghana has not yet lost the battle against corruption as perceived in some quarters. Meanwhile, a Former Commissioner of the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice, Justice Francis Emile Short stated that the level of poverty in African Countries like Ghana is continually deepened due to corruption. Speaking at the launch, Justice Francis Emile Short stated that Africans now embraced corruption as a norm rather than seeing it as something that is unacceptable.
