I Will Expel All Chinese And European Nationals When Elected As Prez. - Akua Donkor

The founder, national chairman and sole presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Madam Akua Donkor, has vowed to expel all Western and Asian nationals when her party is given the mandate to rule in 2016. She is worried that foreigners have invaded and taken over the natural resources sector with the mining subsector suffering most in the hands of these soldiers of fortune who are wantonly destroying the land. She could not understand why Chinese nationals have the effrontery to engage in illegal mining (galamsey) for billions whiles causing environmental degradation. If I am elected president I will sack all of them to go back to their country since they are destroying the land we are to farm on, whiles we do not get anything from their activities, she said. Madam Donkor said if government is prepared to allow galamsey to continue, local youth should be given the opportunity to also engage in it to be able to make a living. She does not understand why security personnel will be used by multi-national mining corporations and Chinese small scale miners to harass and intimidate Ghanaian youth who also make attempts to prospect for precious minerals. At Obuasi, Tarkwa and other mining communities the youth have been squeezed out of mining by foreigners and are now jobless with no hope of engaging in any livelihood as their farm lands have also been encroached upon by miners. She promised to start a refinery to process precious minerals in this country. This will serve two purposes, first the refinery will create jobs for the youth and the finished products will also fetch huge revenue for the country, she added. She called on the police and military to stop harassing Ghanaians who engage in galamsey since they are only trying to make a living. Madam Donkor expressed her condolences to the families of the Kyekyewere disaster in the Western Region in which 17 miners died after an abandoned pit they were prospecting for gold caved in.
