Fifi Kwetey Calls For Attitudinal Change of Ghanaians

The Minister in charge of Finance and Allied Institutions at the Office of the President, Fifi Kwetey has called for a massive attitudinal change in the nation in order to enhance the progress of the economy. According to him, there must be a public outcry with no person playing the �ostrich�, about the exploitative tendencies of Ghanaians. The obviously outraged Minister, on Radio Gold�s newspaper review on Monday, bemoaned the culture where Ghanaian citizens take advantage of the least opportunity to exploit people and extort money, especially from the underprivileged in society. He called for massive crusade to end the exploitative habits of some persons who get the upper hand whenever there is a turn of event in the nation and therefore, use their position to hoodwink the deprived class. He took a swipe at drivers saying they in the wake of the fuel price changes as soon as possible �use the opportunity to exploit passengers� and cautioned them to refrain from such habits. Also, he called on importers to desist from the culture where they import goods and also use the �simple opportunity� to increase prices in order to gain profits �meanwhile, the quality of the product has not changed. The duties have not changed; cedi has not depreciated�� To him, �there must massive attitudinal change. And we must have an understanding that we love to cheat too much and stop trying to cheat people. And stop trying to exploit each other, that is the bottom-line.�
