Member of Parliament for the Manhyia South Constituency, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has responded to claims by the media and Ghana Police that he had a relationship with one of the deceased thugs, who were murdered yesterday(Wednesday)at Mmrom in Kumasi. Two persons are reported to have died Wednesday from gunshot and machete wounds inflicted by unknown assailants at Ashtown, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. They two who were identified as Victor Ocran and Kwadwo Asamoah, also known as Gauso, were attacked in broad-daylight while at a drinking spot by persons on motorbikes and others in a vehicle. Giving an account to the incident, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yussif Tanko, the Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police Command said he believes Asamoah and his friend were attacked because he had led a gang to attack some persons in the area during the house to house campaign tour of Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament for Manhyia South prior to the 2012 elections. But speaking on Okay FM, the MP revealed that although Kwadwo Asamoah (a victim) might have played his part during his 2012 campaign, he could boldly state that the deceased wasnt his friend. He urged the Police service and the media to conduct a thorough investigation before making speculations that could damage any public figures image.
