Bantama MP: Ghanaians Should Thank God For Having A Leader Like Nana Akufo-Addo

Bantama MP on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Henry Kwabena Kokofu has called on Ghanaians to remember to thank God for the peace and tranquility the country is enjoying despite the illuming turbulence which could have occurred as a result of the 2012 election declaration. He attributed this to the fact that the country has a leader like Nana Akufo-Addo who has the character of courage, patience and enough respect for the rule of law to allow the court to handle any grievance without resorting to violence as it happened in Ivory Coast when a lot of lives were lost because of misunderstanding in their election. Speaking on Okay FM, the NPP MP said that it is important to resort to the rule of law and be bold to address issues at the appropriate quarters even if the situation is too bad to entertain; stressing that other countries with similar incident did not have this wisdom, chance and understanding to use the law of the land. He added that many countries have been subjected to retrogressive state, rendering many inhabitants homeless and in abject poverty similar to political turmoil; reiterating that it is not all people who can be courageous and patience enough to respect the rule of law to address their grievances. He therefore said that Ghana is blessed with a leader like Nana Addo who has respect for democracy and has the nations interest at heart, stating that the petitioners have done well for the fact that when the situation was tough, they resorted to court and not violence. He reminded that the issue before the Supreme Court has been the first of it kind in the profession of the Justices on the bench and history will remember the lawyers on this case as this petition has brought to bear the importance of the provision in the constitution which deals with election disputes in the country. He acknowledged that the current generation has been lucky to witness such case in the country because this to him will be a pacesetter for the upcoming generation to respect democracy and place importance on institutions which have been set aside to handle grievances even if the situations become unbearable.
