NDC Communicator: Some Kantamanto Traders Are Indisciplined And Engage In Wee Business

A member of the government communication team, Gabby Assumeng has attributed the fire oubreak at the Kantamanto market to indiscipline as many traders are engaged in Wee business and illegal electrical power connections without any control. He said that people engage in all manner of bad social vices which do not auger well for a market; expressing surprise that with all the leaders who are now talking and defending the traders, they could not do anything about their behavior in the market. Speaking on Okay FM, he said that if the leadership was up to the task in the market, the indiscipline nature would have been dealt with; stressing that people would not have engaged in the ill-vices which is contrary to the ethics of a good market. He hinted that as a result of someones negligence in the market a lot of properties have been destroyed, indicating that the mayor is only doing his work as a CEO of Accra by making sure that after the fire the proper thing is done. He recounted that the Railway Authority has no right to lease land to any group in Accra, saying that Alfred Oko Vanderpuije has done his best He therefore blamed the agitation of the traders on the NPP for instigating them to create riot in Accra. He however applauded the effort of the mayor by not sitting to allow the traders to go back to the market site to mount their wooden structures to start business again. He has therefore pleaded with Ghanaians not to politicize the issue of the Kantamanto.
