The Accra Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into an incident that led to the death of a policeman with the Tesano Divisional Police Command, to establish the cause of death.
Lance Corporal George Korankye was hit by a bullet when his patrol team engaged a team of suspected armed robbers in an exchange of fire at about 2:45 a.m. yesterday, at West Loop, Tesano.
The incident occurred when the suspects, who were attempting to break into a house at the West Loop, Tesano, bolted on their motorbikes upon seeing the police patrol team.
The patrol team gave them a hot chase, leading to exchange of fire, and the subsequent death of the Lance Corporal.
It is strongly believed some of the robbers were hit, and could be seeking medical attention in some health facilities in Accra and its environs.
Medical practitioners are, therefore, being called upon to look out for persons with gunshot wounds, who would seek treatment, and report them to the police.
