Black Stars goalie Adam Larsen Kwarasey will play no part in next month�s 2014 FIFA World Cup double-header against Sudan and Lesotho.
The 25-year old, who features for Norwegian top flight side Stromsgodset is due to undergo surgery on a recurring injury next week, and will not be available for selection for the trips to Khartoum and Maseru.
Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that the Norway-born shot-stopper has officially informed the Black Stars technical team of his unavailability for the two crucial games, which will play a defining role in the team�s quest for a third successive appearance at the Mundial.
The news will come as a blow to Stars coach Kwasi Appiah with barely two weeks to the Group D encounter with the Desert Hawks on June 7 in the Sudanese capital.
It will be the first time the goalie will be unavailable for selection since making his debut for the Stars in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Swaziland on September 2, 2011 in Accra.
Kwarasey, who dethroned Richard Kingson to become the safest pair of hands for the Stars, has been reduced to watching from the bench since the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations following the emergence of Fatau Dauda.
Dauda has since made the position between the sticks his bonafide after some eye-popping saves at the continental flagship tournament where the Stars finished fourth.
After Sudan, the Stars will travel to Maseru to face Lesotho on June 16.
