Government To Support GREEDA Build Houses

Government is committed to supporting the Ghana Real Estate Developers association (GREEDA) to build more houses, to reduce the current housing deficit in the country. Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, who made the pledged, commended GREEDA for the significant role it is playing in the countrys housing industry. Alhaji Dauda received a seven-member delegation of the Executive Council of GREEDA, led by its president, Mr Kwakye Dopoah Dei, in Accra on Wednesday. He said Ghana was faced with 1.7 million housing deficit, and appealed stakeholders to invest in the industry. Alhaji Dauda said the Ministry would regularly seek the views of GREEDA on how to solve the housing problem. Mr Dopoah Dei said GREEDA would work with the Ministry to deal with the housing issue. He said GREEDA was well-equipped and resourced enough to provide the number of houses Ghana needs, and expressed worry that foreign contractors were being given much attention than their local counterparts.
