Ghana Should Establish A "University of Elections" And Make Asiedu Nketia The Vice Chancellor

A member of the NDCs legal team wants government to establish a University of Elections and appoint Johnson Asiedu Nketia the vice chancellor. Lawyer Abraham Amaliba believes the evidence adduced by Johnson Asiedu Nketia in court on Thursday sets him apart from other politicians who do not know the nitty-gritty of the country's electoral matters. "He took his time in court yesterday (Thursday)to explain how he, as General Secretary, has been involved in all of our electoral processes and taken part in all IPAC meetings...unlike Bawumia, Asiedu Nketia was able to explain to the court what over voting means. "He explained that over voting occurs when the number of ballot papers in the ballot box, exceeds the number of people entitled to vote and the number of ballots in the ballot boxes exceeding the number of ballot papers issued, he explained. Lawyer Abraham Amaliba further noted that refusal on the part of the judges not to sustain objections raised by Lawyer Addison when the NDC General Secretary was giving his evidence-in-chief, shows clearly that the court even wants to listen to him. In my estimation, I think we should establish a university of Elections and appoint Asiedu Nketia the vice chancellor. Some people have been saying that he has taken over the work of Afari Gyan. However this isnt the case, the man hasnt taken over from Afari Gyan but he is simply flowing with knowledge of our electoral laws, he noted. Taking a slight jibe at Dr. Bawumia, Lawyer Amaliba stated that unlike the NPPs star witness who mounted the witness box and received rebukes from the judges, Asiedu Nketia has been straight forward with his answers and proved he is the right person to take the witness box....
