Ghanaians Should Adopt Precautionary Measures Against Fire Outbreaks

The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Fire Service, Prince Anaglate has urged Ghanaians to adopt precautionary measures against fire outbreaks in the country. He admonished the citizenry to commit themselves to fire safety in order to rid the nation of any unfortunate situations. Speaking in an interview with Radio Gold, Mr. Anaglate expressed worry over the spate of fire outbreaks that have bedeviled the nation. He disclosed that the country has since January recorded about 1500 alarming cases of fire outbreaks. He therefore called on the populace to cultivate the fire safety culture to ensure that every activity that we are doing, we try to look round and to ensure that we eliminate fire hazard within our premises, within our offices.; wherever everybody find himself or herself. We try to ensure that electrical system and other gadgets that we use are meeting the safety standard. I believe everybody who is Ghanaian must be concerned about some of these rampant fires, especially when 90% of these fires are preventable. he continued. He also advised that any premises that is going to house from one person to 500 people should have a minimum of two exits. If its going to house about 500 to 1000 should have a minimum of three exits which therefore means that if you have a single room that is going to take one person; that single room should have at least two exits. He was optimistic the fire outbreaks can be minimized if Ghanaians heed to his advice.
