Transport fares across the country are to remain unchanged despite the upward adjustment of fuel prices by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA). The current ex-pump prices of Petrol and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) have been increased by 3% whiles diesel has also seen a 2% increase. According to the Acting Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Robert Sabah, the less than 5% upward adjustments will not induce any change in transport fares. �The increment was minimal and therefore, the increment will have to wait. There is a convention that when the increment is less than 5%, the transport operators should wait. When there is another increment, they add it to what was lost during the period.� Some fuel attendants at various pump stations who spoke to Citi News said most customers were collaborating fuel station executives. "Since yesterday after the price change, we also increased our prices so when the drivers came here, they accepted and didn�t complain,� one attendant said. Some commercial bus drivers confirmed that there was no increase in their transportation fares. �The increase is not going to affect the fares we charge our customers,� one driver stated.
