African Film Awards, ZAFAA (Uk) Launched In Ghana

The 2013 edition of the Zulu African Film Academy Awards, ZAFAA was launched on Tuesday May 28 at the Kama Conference Centre at Labone, Accra. In attendance of the launch were Deputy Minister of Information Hon. Murtala Mohammed, Torgbor Mensah, Actors Guild president Mr. Nii ODoi Mensah, Kofi Adjorlolo, Eckow Smith Asante, Van Vicker, Roger Quartey, Vivian Achor, FIPAG executives, WIPA (Women In Performing Art), FICA (Film Crew Association Of Ghana) and other stakeholders in the movie industry. In a speech by the president of Africa Film Festival And Academy Awards, UK (ZAAFA Global Awards) Mr. Sam Anwuzia, he congratulated movie makers for their good work and asked them to do more because the awards is to reward hardworking individuals in the industry so as to boost their morals to work harder. He added that Africa movies of late have taken the world by storm which is projecting the image of Africa across the world. He also challenged movie producers to venture into children�s and local movies which has been neglected by a number of people since that is what most foreigners and awards look out for. Mr. Sam Anwuzia assured stakeholders of fairness in the awards. Deputy Minister for Information, Hon. Murtala Mohammed assured organizers of the event the support of the president to make the event a successful one. He added that the president has an interest in the creative industry and will do everything to support it. The deadline for submission of movies for the awards is June 30 which will be scrutinized by a jury to come out with the nominees. The movies are to be submitted to Mr. Steve Asare Hackman (Hacky Films), Mr. Macdavies Pascal (Gupado Films)and Mr: Mustapha A Inusah (Attractive) who are ZAFAA�s representatives in Ghana. The event expected to award actors, actresses, producers and crew members is scheduled for 17th to19th October at the London Hilton park lane Hotel, Mayfair W1K 1BE
