Chief of Bankas case adjourned

The Accra Fast Track High Court presided over by Justice Charles Quist, has adjourned the case involving the state and Nana Osabarima Twiampomah III, Chief of Banka in the Ashanti Akim South District, to June 27. Nana Twiampomah III is being held for allegedly misappropriating $150,000.00 belonging to his community. The money misappropriated was a lease sum paid by Gulf Coast Resources Limited, a mining company, to the people of Banka after using their land for mining 10 years ago. Charged with stealing, 52-year old Nana Twiampomah pleaded not guilty. Counsel for Nana Twiampomah told the court that both parties had agreed to meet for the accused to refund part of the money and later pay the rest. Prosecuting Chief State Attorney, Mr Matthew Amponsah told the court he was not aware of the said agreement. He, however, did not object to the agreement but asked that it should be met on time. The judge then ordered that both parties meet and plan for the repayment before the adjourned date or else, the court would continue the trial.
