Afram Plains MP Denies Beating Rival Over SHS Girl

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Afram Plains South, Joseph Appiah Boateng, who was reported to have beaten his rival into coma over a Senior High School girl, has vehemently denied the allegation, claiming it is an orchestration of elements within the New Patriotic Party (NPP). According to the MP, the publication that he is on the wanted list of the police for knocking David Oberkos head against a wall rendering him comatose is a misrepresentation of facts. In his explanation to Adom FM, Hon. Boateng stated that the only time he set eyes on both the said Senior High School (SHS) lover of his, Jennifer Akyewa and David Oberko was on the evening of the 4th June, 2013, when he had to intervene to avert, what was obviously a fracas between the two. I was driving home from a meeting when I saw the two struggling over something close to an abandoned building. I pulled over, without even turning off the engine of my car; I went close and asked what was happening. The lady told me it was about a mobile the guy had seized from herI then requested to have the phone and gave it to the girl and asked where she lived. She told me she lives close to the Roman Catholic Church so I asked her to leave for the house at once. I watched her leave before I left without asking the boy even a single question, he narrated. He further asserted that he had made his checks and it indicates that some NPP elements in the Afram Plains South constituency are behind the allegation and have even impressed on medical officers at the Donkorkrom Presby hospital to fabricate documents to the effect that, the said David Oberko slipped into coma and was admitted to the hospital for days but they refused. The legislator who is also a trained Pathologist however told the Accra-based radio station in a telephone interview that he has made a report to the Police and would follow the issue to its logical conclusion because, in his view, this is a calculated attempted to defame him.
