Ayews Must Officially Write To GFA On U-turn - Sannie Daara

The Ghana Football Association says Andre and Jordan Ayew must officially notify them of their decision to end their international retirement. Ghana President John Mahama met with the Olympique Marseille stars and successfully convinced them to end their international retirement. After the meeting, the pair announced their return. The Ayews, sons of African legend, Abedi Pele withdrew their services from the Ghana national team after Andre was excluded from the Black Stars squad for the 2013 AFCON. Andre told reporters he had a problems with management committee members of the Ghana Football Association while it was reported he disrespected head coach Kwesi Appiah. Their father, Abedi Pele - three time African Footballer of the Year Award winner said he was disappointed in Kwesi Appiah following his frosty relationship with his sons. The players are expected to be back for international football against Zambia in September but GFA Spokesperson, Ibrahim Sannie Daara says there must be an official notification to the association. "We are yet to receive an official communication from them on their decision to return," he told Accra-based Peace FM. He also mentioned their return for the Zambia game will rest with Kwesi Appiah. "They have agreed to return alright but the decision to invite them rest with the coach because competition is keen so they must work for their place," he added.
