A member of the Communications Team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is worried over the inability of all parties involved in the events leading to the payment of GHc 51.2m as judgement debt to Alfred Abgesi Woyome, to accept responsibility for their actions. Alhaji Steven Atubiga concedes the NDC made a monumental gaffe in paying that gargantuan amount to the businessman. �We take full responsibility for that act� he said. The public concession by the onetime parliamentary hopeful for the Binduri seat in the Upper East Region, comes after the Supreme Court�s order that construction firm Waterville Holdings refund all sums paid to it in the controversial GH�51 million judgement debt case to the Government of Ghana. Waterville Holdings, one of the companies which spearheaded the construction of some stadia in Ghana ahead of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, was paid the award after dragging the Government of Ghana to Court in 2009. But in a unanimous decision by a nine-member Bench on Friday June 14, 2013, the Court ruled that Waterville Holdings was not deserving of the judgment award. This was however made possible by the former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Martin Amidu�s conviction that the government of Ghana wrongful paid the money and his resolve to retrieve the money for the state, which made many believe, led to his dismissal as chief State Attorney. Apart from that, he was vilified by members of his own party who regarded him as a bitter person on a mission to run down the government and the party, leading up to the 2012 general elections. Alhaji Steven Atubiga admits the party and the government erred and needs to apologize to the former A-G. He also admonished all political groupings to be bold to stand by their convictions and when it turns out that they are in the wrong, they should be bold enough to admit.
