World Cup Qualifying Format For Africa

Fifa has announced that the draw for the third and final round of the African World Cup qualifiers will be made on 16 September 2013. The Confederation of African Football will host the draw in Cairo . The matches will take the form of two-legged play-offs, with the aggregate winners going to Brazil 2014. Fifa has also stated that the five best placed sides in the world rankings, as of 12 September 2013, will be seeded for the draw. The first legs of the play-offs will be played on 11-15 October 2013, while the second and decisive ties take place on 15-19 November 2013. Based on the June ranking released by Fifa, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Nigeria, Algeria and Tunisia will be the top seeds for the third round. These top seeds might Draw Cameroon/Libya, Egypt, Ethiopia and Senegal for the two legged play-offs of the tournament. The five teams that win their respective series qualify for the 2014 Fifa World Cup.
