Tema based rapper D Cryme has made a rather damning revelation about how Ghanaians treat their musicians when it comes to international endorsements. D Cryme who is also known as �The General CEO� has the view that until Ghanaians change their attitude concerning their musicians, start endorsing them and start taking risk for them, collaborations between Ghanaians and international acts will always sound like an impossibility. In recent times artiste in other parts of Africa have been featuring a lot of international acts on their songs. Some of these popular examples include Nigeria�s P Square featuring Rick Ross and Akon respectively on some of their songs. D�Banj is also on record to have featured the American hip pop icon Snoop Dogg on his �Mr. Endowed� hit song. The sensational rapper who is currently putting together a record label he calls Twi Pop Records, said �the unfortunate thing is, in our beloved country Ghana, we don�t endorse our own.� �Nigeria�s D�Banj didn't just walk to Snoop and ask him to work with him. He was endorsed by his countryman who later connected him to Snoop. Nigerians push their own stars more than we do here in Ghana and it is one thing they have over us,� Cryme admitted in an interview with Eddy Blay. The �Kill me shy� hit maker who is also working on his new album believes that Ghana has all the right men in place to facilitate bigger and better international collaborations but they are just not doing it. �In Ghana, sometimes it feels like they don�t even want these collabos to happen and that is the bitter truth. They sometimes even try to kill your spirit. There are many Ghanaians that are in the position to make it happen but they just won�t�, Cryme noted. Checks by NEWS ONE revealed that around 2005, Reggie Rockstone �the Grandpapa� was able to feature Jamaican dancehall sensation Bennie Man and 2face on two of his songs. The UK based Ghanaian rapper Fuse ODG recently joined the league when he featured Haitian born veteran musician Wyclef Jean on his award winning �Antenna� song. Among these collaborations, Kwaw Kese has also succeeded in featuring Tanzanian hip pop artiste Professor Jay and Wyclef respectively on his works. Maybe if others also work very hard at it, they might end up featuring some other great champs in their songs.
