BukBak Registers Brand Name After 15 Years

Until the going to court by Makeba Boateng and Confidence Haugens over the rightful owner of a clothing line logo, a day when brands in the entertainment circle will be suing and also get sued for infringing on each others intellectual property, was something industry players hadnt given a thought. And until recently when Kweku T and D Black cried foul over Vodafones usage of their hit song Move for a television commercial without their consent, action was barely taken on these things; in most instances it is a case of live and let live. But do Ghanaian artistes really care about those little parts of their brands, which may in the long term inure to their benefit? Some do care apparently; Hip Life duo Buk Bak have registered their name as a brand after fifteen years of doing active mainstream music. The move is ostensibly intended to thwart off any possible attempt of creative intrusion or infringement by a third party.
