Sekou To Rawlings And Kufour: Quit Poking Your Noses In Local PoliticsFocus On Intl Issues

Former Acting National Coordinator of the National Youth Authority, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, wants former presidents John Jerry Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor to cease commenting on political issues concerning the country. I think I would advise him (President Rawlings) to focus more on international issues and forget about the politics here in Ghana. Why because, I think he (Rawlings) seems to be now bigger than before. And the same goes to President Kufuor, he said. Sekous comment comes on the heels of Ex-President Rawlings extolling of Martin Amidus doggedness and perseverance at an international conference in Nigeria. Mr Rawlings paid glowing tribute to the former Attorney-General for his drive and determination which culminated in the Supreme Court ruling in his favour and directing Waterville Holdings Limited to pay back to the government of Ghana, some 24million euros it received as judgement debt. The former president noted that though Mr Amidu faced mortification and ridicule from some of his compatriots, he was resolute in his lonely fight to see justice served. The former A-G received the praise when Mr Rawlings delivered the keynote address at a conference on Emerging Democracies in Africa, in Abuja on Monday. But the politically Maradona (who left the NDC to join ranks with the NPP but later ditched the elephant party and returned to the NDC), who was speaking on Asempa FM, felt the former president was above local politics because of his international status. My point is that, I think digging his nose into local politics seems not to suit him any longer, he opined. Sekou Nkrumah also censured the ex-President for his recent June 4th speech where he accused the administrations of former presidents Kufuor and John Atta Mills of only reversing the many achievements chalked by the nation. He stressed that such utterances from the former president reduces his preeminence in the NDC party, adding that the late Prof Atta-Mills was regarded as the God Father of the NDC rather than the founder (Rawlings) due to the way he reacts to issues.
