NDC Youth Dissociates Self From Vilification Campaign

The Ledzokuku Youth wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday dissociated itself from the vilification campaign against some leading members of the party. The youth therefore condemned what they described as unwarranted agitation against some metropolitan, municipal and district ( MMDCEs) executives who have been re-nominated by the President. A statement signed by nine leading members in the constituency of the party and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra to register their detests for the evolving culture of impunity among some youth groups. The statement was jointly signed by Mr Frank Nii Dua, Constituency Youth Organiser; Jelilatu Adjetey, Deputy Constituency Youth Organiser; Nii Attoh Mensah-Sowah Youth Wing, Information and Research Secretary; and Robert Tempong Youth Wing Secretary. Others are: David S. A. Anyaah, Emmanuel Soway, Jonathan Adjei, Michael Adjetey Mensah, and Gideon Amarteye, Youth Wing Organiser, Teshie. The youth called on NDC youth groups to support any nomination made by the President in the interest of party unity and development. They also called for total support for the MMDCEs to deliver in fulfilment of the better Ghana agenda of the party. We must mobilise and use our youthful exuberance to promote development, the statement said. The youth also reminded the MMDCEs of their mandate to serve the people, who elected them party into power. You must also guide against lording it over the people, the statement said. Decentralisation was built on the principles of transparency, service to the people and involvement of the grass root in the local governance of the peopleWe must not lose sight of the mandate.
