The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Disciplinary Committee on Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby will present its findings and recommendations to the National Executive Committee (NEC) for action this week. At a meeting last Friday, the committee reached an advanced stage of its findings but could not complete its work to be submitted to the NEC for consideration. Dr Wereko-Brobby was not at last Friday�s meeting because, according to committee sources, he was not expected to be part of the deliberations of the Disciplinary Committee discussing his fate. The source explained that the committee had already met Dr Wereko-Brobby to put his case before them. The committee is chaired by Most Rev. Dr Asante Antwi. It has Dr Addo Kufuor, Mrs Gladys Asmah, Mr R. O Solomon, Mr Ayikoi Otoo, Mr Opare Hammond, Mr Ken Wuud and Mrs Sharika Abdulai as some of its members. It will be recalled that the leadership of the NPP said it would not suspend the work of the disciplinary committee looking into the conduct of its founder member, Dr Wereko-Brobby. Dr Wereko-Brobby is facing the committee for allegedly exhibiting behaviour that put the party's image into disrepute. That includes his description of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the party�s star witness in the ongoing Presidential Election Petition, as clueless. Tarzan, as he is popularly called, has asked the committee to abandon proceedings because, according to him, it has been compromised by certain prejudicial comments attributed to one of its members, Mr Ayikoi Otoo, but the General Secretary of the party, Mr Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, said the disciplinary committee would continue with its work. According to him, the supposed prejudicial comments by Mr Ayikoi Otoo will not in any way affect the final recommendations of the committee. "The disciplinary committee is made up of eight people, so if he (Tarzan) had a problem with one of them, he should have raised it before the committee but he failed to do that," he stressed. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie maintained that Tarzan�s complaints to the chairman of the committee were ill-timed.
