Beleaguered Deputy Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, honoured his word when he again apologized to the bench on PeaceFM for remarks the judges deemed to be disrespectful.
Sammy Awuku, who �produced� himself before the court on Wednesday, after the Presiding Judge, Justice William Atuguba declared him �wanted�, pleaded with the Justices to pardon his utterances since he overreacted during a heated debate on Peace FM.
He however promised to use the same platform to retract his comment if his apology is first granted by the court.
�I accept I did not speak properly on Peace FM on Tuesday. My Lords, if I get the same opportunity next Tuesday on the same platform, I will repeat the similar apology I have rendered here (the court room� he said.
Justice Atuguba then asked him �What opportunity will you be looking for because it is that programme (Peace FM�s Kokrokoo) that was your opportunity for the utterances and you are quite sure that the same thing will be done on Tuesday if you get the opportunity?
The NPP deputy communicator who was standing behind counsels representing both the petitioners and respondents of the 2012 election petition was then asked to mount the witness box to affirm his apology.
�My Lords,� he repeated, �if I get to represent my party again on Peace FM, I will repeat my apology again� Justice Atuguba who was doubtful said �And if not?� Sammy Awuku again promised that �I will my Lords if I get the opportunity including the evening news on Peace FM.
True to his word, a remorseful Sammy Awuku walked into the studios of the Abeka-based privately-owned radio station, during the reading of the 6pm Bulletin, to render another apology to the nine justices of the Supreme Court.
He also seized the opportunity to thank the management of Peace fm for giving him the opportunity to again retract and apologise for his comments.
