Sammy Awuku Was Only Drawing The Attention Of The Supreme Court To Other Publications - John Boadu

Though the Supreme Court has banned the Deputy Communication Director of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku from witnessing the court proceedings of the 2012 election petition, another Deputy Communication Director of the party, John Boadu has supported the stance of his colleague on the position of the Supreme Court when it cited only Daily Guide for making contemptuous report on the court proceedings. According to him, the National Security and other influential institutions in the country cannot deny the fact that some NDC communicators including the President are all liable for contempt so far as the 2012 election petition is concerned. Speaking on Okay FM, he said that Sammy Awuku was drawing the attention of the Supreme Court on similar publications made by the Daily Dispatch and the Enquirer newspapers respectively which the court forgot to mention as part of the media twisting the court proceedings. He however acknowledged it is bad to make statements outside what transpires in court which he believes all the parties have adhered to, but to him it is expected of the judges to be fair to all sides of the issues in court. He further said that if the judges have not heard of those comments from the pro-NDC members, the NPP will be prepared to send a petition to the Supreme Court to complain about those who have made similar comments which Sammy Awuku has been cited for contempt. He therefore said that everybody is responsible to ensuring that there is peace in Ghana but to him it does not mean that they should be restriction on issues which Ghanaians feel they were not handled fairly.
