Ashgold Striker Mohammed Yakubu Could Snub Orlando Pirates Low Offer

Ghanaian striker, Mohammed Yakubu, could be having second thoughts about joining South African side Orlando Pirates with rivals Maritzburg waiting on the wings with a firm offer. While reports in South Africa have surfaced that the 23-year-old is expected to start training with Pirates this week, there have been indications that he is uncertain on wanting to sign a deal with the Buccaneers. According to a Soccer-Laduma source, Mohammed is unhappy with the contract that has been tabled by Pirates and it is now unknown as to whether he will commit to the club or not. Reports in the Ghanaian media stated last week that Maritzburg United had a late bid for the forward turned down by his club, Ashanti Gold, with his current club seemingly adamant that he will join Pirates. Pirates have already completed the signing of Mohammeds countryman, Fatau Dauda, and while the striker could still finalise a move to Parktown, it remains up in the air at present.
