Kwesi Appiah Identifies Four Players In Ghana U-20 Team For Future Black Stars Call

Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah says he has identified about four players from the Ghana U20 that could be drafted into the Black Stars. The Black Stars coach is monitoring players from the Black Satellites at the U20 World Cup currently ongoing in Turkey. The Black Stars profited immensely from the Ghana U20 team that won the World Cup in 2009 especially at the 2010 Nations Cu were most of the key players of the side were missing through injury. Players such as Andre Ayew, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Samuel Inkoom, Jonathan Mensah, Rabiu Mohammed and goalkeeper Daniel Agyei were all picked from the victorious Black Satellites team in 2009. Appiah is now looking to do almost a similar thing by identifying players who can freshen up the Black Stars team. The Ghana trainer says he has so far identified about four players he is keeping close tabs on for possible Black Stars calls. We got most of the players in our current Black Stars team from the U20 team, he told Kumasi-based Angel FM. So it was important that at the World class level I come and monitor them to see how well they fare and also see whether we can draft some in or keep on monitoring for future Black Stars call ups. Some of the players have impressed but I dont just use one or two games to decide on a player. At the moment there are about three or four players I am keeping close tabs on but I cannot reveal their identities. I will continue to monitor them and see whether indeed they fit the bill for a Black Stars call up. Ghana have recovered from a stuttering start at the U20 World Cup to progress to the last eight of the competition. The Black Satellites will now be facing Chile on Sunday for a place in the semi finals.
