I Composed Kaakies Hit Songs..But I'm Never Credited

If there is one thing human beings crave the most, it is attention. And when a person does something good, he expects to receive some commendation or acknowledgment. But, that does not seem to be the case, at least, for one musician who claims to be behind the rise of one of Ghanas budding musicians. Kweku Obeng Amoako who prefers to be called Lingua Kat, is a reggae dancehall artiste based in Dansoman. He says he is a song writer and a composer as well. In an interview with Joy News, he revealed that three of the hit singles recorded by female dancehall artist, Kaakie were originally his songs. These are, Too Much, Top Gyal and DC Turn Up. He explained that he did not record those three songs because Dansoman-based music producer, Jam Master Jay thought a feminine voice would best suit the song and since he did not have the financial wherewithal to produce it on his own he had to let it go. Lingua Kat is unhappy his efforts have not been appreciated by Kaakies management team as he is never credited even as the composer of the songs that shot Kaakie to the limelight. He told Joy News the songs lack energy because no respect was given to the song writer. Lingua Kat who says he has been in the music industry for the past two decades said he started off as a dancehall artist even at a time when dancehall music was not popular. He also adds that he has been working with Samini music since the year 2000. The good news though is that, Lingua Kat will soon be releasing his own song soon. I did dancehall groove where Kaakie sings the chorus and I do the verses he said. I have 300 songs but they never got promoted, he said singling out a song titled Mama Africa which he said I recorded with Samini but it was never given credence. Black Rasta did the same song with Jah Amber and now hes been nominated for it in the upcoming bass awards. Meanwhile he said he will start shooting a video for his yet to be released song soon.
