Mobile Phone Thief Jailed Four Years

A 33-year old trader arrested for stealing three mobile phones has been sentenced to four years imprisonment with hard labour by the Juaso Circuit Court. Ibrahim Sally was convicted after pleading guilty to charges of unlawful entry and stealing. Police Chief Inspector Emmanuel Ofori told the court presided over by Mr. Alex Obeng Asante that the crime was committed on July 13, at about 0230 hours. The complainants, Mohammed Razak, Robert Atta and Michael Buckman, are all students, and live in the same room at Juaso. They were asleep when Razak heard an unusual noise, which he initially thought was coming from one of his roommates who might have gone out to urinate. He later realized the noise was being created by an intruder and therefore raised the alarm, forcing the convict to flee through a window. The three together with members of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee gave him a hot chase and succeeded in arresting him. One of the stolen phones was retrieved during a body search and he confessed throwing the other two away while being pursued. Sally was handed over to the Juaso Police.
