GJA Will Keep In Touch With Ken Kuranchie-Affail Monney

Dr Affail Monney, President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on Friday assured that the Association would keep in touch with incarcerated Editor of the Daily Searchlight Newspaper, Mr Kenneth Agyei Kuranchie. We will not turn back on him. We will keep in touch with him. He is our own and we are with him in spirit in this difficult situation, he said. Mr Monney was interacting with journalists in Ho after a botched attempt to visit Mr Kuranchie, who is serving a 10-day jail sentence at the Ho Central Prisons. Mr Kuranchie was found guilty of criminal contempt after publishing an editorial on the 2012 Election petition case. Dr. Monney, who was accompanied by Mr Rogking Clottey, Organising Secretary of the Association said the incarceration of Mr Kuranchie provided fountains of lessons for all practitioners and underscored the need for journalists to obey public order. He said the landscape is still littered with potholes and urged journalists not to fall into those potholes. Dr. Monney asked them to be bold and not sacrifice accuracy, objectivity and truth for any other consideration. He later presented assorted items to the Regional executives of the Association to be given to Mr Kuranchie.
