Ignisious Gaisah Completes His Dutch Switch

Ghanaian long jumper Ignisious Gaisah has completed his switch of nationality to compete for the Netherlands after receiving a Dutch passport on Monday, Ghana Sports can exclusively reveal. The 29-year-old the Ghana Athletics officials he has quit the West African side and would now compete for the European side after irresponsible management of the sport in the West African country. The Elmina-born officially was presented with his Dutch passport and he is set to compete for his adopted country. GAA officials have touring the airwaves in Accra trying to find reasons for problems that has crippled the sport in the country but Gaisah appears to be no part of it for now. Gaisah's record is impressive. He has won several gold, silver and bronze medals for Ghana but nothing or little has come to him in turn. Most Ghanaians who understand the state of athletics in the country have hailed Gaisah for his decision and lashed out at officials at the GAA and the Ghana Sports Ministry for their lack of support for other sports apart from football. In a career spanning for close to 20 years, Gaisah has been funding his own training programmes and is given virtually nothing for his effort for Ghana. Compatriots Margret Simpson, Kennedy Agyemang and several others have backed Gaisah for his bold decision. After receiving his documents, the long jumper posted in his facebook account.
