The Committee set up to work out modalities for implementation of priority projects of government has presented its report to President John Mahama. The Committee presented progress report on the 200 community Day Senior High Schools promised by the President during his campaign and in the Party's Manifesto. Briefing the media at Flagstaff House in Accra on Thursday, Deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the first 50 schools to be built will be started soon. He noted that the President is happy with the work of the committee. Early this year, President Mahama instituted a special task force in charge of government's priority projects. The task force among other issues was mandated to draw estimates and costs of various Senior High Schools, district and regional hospitals, polyclinics and tertiary educational institutions. The presentation of the report would now pave way for the commencement of work of the Community-Day Senior High Schools, which aimed at decongesting the traditional schools and to create adequate opportunities for more students from the country's Junior High Schools. Mr Kwakye-Ofosu said the report entailed costing, recommended designs, first beneficiary districts and sample models made up of classroom blocks, headmasters' bungalows, teachers' quarters, dinning and entertainment halls. Under the Senior High School project, one school in each region would be provided with sports training facilities.
