The joint military/police task force deployed in the Nkonya-Alavanyo general areas is working assiduously to enforce law and order, according to a press release from the Ghana Armed Forces. The release, signed by lieutenant Commander MA Larbi on the behalf of the GAR Director of Public Relations, said that over the past few days the task force has been mounting road blocks and enforcing curfew in the area. �On Friday, July 5 while the task force was enforcing the curfew, a 21-year-old man(name withheld) threatened members of the task force with a locally manufactured weapon. He was subsequently arrested and the weapon, 10 cartridges and two AK 47 ammunition cases on him, were seized,� the release said. It also reported that another 21-year-old man was arrested at 1pm on Saturday July 6 �for deliberately provoking the joint task force and threatening to shoot at the personnel.� Both suspects have been arrested and handed over to the Kpando District Police, according to the release. �Following these two incidents, the task force embarked on a snap cordon and search operation in the early hours of Sunday, July 7 [but] no weapons or illegal items were found,� the release said.
