The National Identification Authority�s registration exercise undertaken in the Tamale Metropolis has recorded high turnout. Thousands of residents in the metropolis underwent the 10 day exercise which is expected to end on Saturday, July 13. Some of the beneficiaries told Citi News the exercise was stressful. As reported from other regions, the registration exercise has been bedeviled with challenges. Some of the beneficiaries complained about the slow processes they went through after joining long queues. Additionally, some of the officials who are not familiar with the local names found it difficult processing the required data on the cards. This resulted in spelling mistakes recorded on some of the cards issued to people who have already gone through the exercise. Citi News also gathered that some of the machines procured for the national identification registration exercise particularly the printers easily broke down. It is unclear if the NIA Authorities will extend the original 10 days expected to elapse on Saturday. Among the registration centres Citi News visited include Queen Elizabeth Day Care Centre at Tishigu, Presby Experimental School in Sakasaka, Bugulana-fong and the Tamale central Mosque registration centres.
