Re-locate To Highlands...More Rains Coming - NADMO Warns

The Eastern Regional office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has advised people living at low lying areas and kiosks in waterways or near big gutters to re-locate to highlands. NADMO indicated that even though one might think the rainy season is over, there are more rains coming and has therefore called on occupants of buildings with cracked walls to re-locate. Mr. Ransford Owusu Boakye, head of NADMO in the Eastern Region at a press conference urged Ghanaians to do whatever is necessary to avert flood related disasters in the region. According to him, whenever there are flood related disasters, the country spends a lot of money which if avoided could have been used for other projects. In a report given by Micheal Akrofie, our Eastern Regional correspondent, Mr Boakye said: had I known is always at last and so dont wait till the last minute before making up your mind to do something, he said. He also asked disaster volunteer groups as well as zonal officers of NADMO to aid in educating the general public on flood related issues.
