Don't Rush Ghana U20s To Black Stars - Augustine Arhinful Warns

Ex-Ghana striker Augustine Arhinful has advised against the mass promotion of Ghanas U20 players into the senior national team. There are talks that as many as four players from the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup bronze medal winning team will be drafted into the senior team. Midfielders Siedu Salifu and Clifford Aboagye, Golden Shoe winner Ebenezer Assifuah and Frank Acheampong have been penciled down. But Arhinful, a member of Ghanas 1993 FIFA World Youth Championship silver-medal winning team in Australia, has the process to be gradual. It is always good that after such a major tournament we pencilled some players which we perceive to be potentials to play for the Black Stars but I think we should not rush them, Arhinful told Joy sports I have heard people compare the Adiyiah situation in 2009 to Ebenezer Assifuah so I will advise whoever the Black Stars coach sees as a potential player in the future to be integrated into the Black Stars other than that they will go and play one match and if they are not successful the same people who are now calling for their inclusion will pull them down again. We need to take time with these boys, they are potentials, they are growing up but we need to be very careful in how we push them into the Black Stars team.
