Wife of the late former President John Evans Fiifi Atta-Mills has donated a sum of ten thousand Ghana cedis and customized Bibles to the New Juabeng Senior High. Last Sundays ceremony follows the national inauguration of the Ghana First Lady High Schools Bible Projectat Aburi Girls SHS in the same region, and a subsequent distribution on different days at Achimota and Awudome Senior High Schools. It is expected that five hundred thousand (500,000) Bibles would be distributed to various SHS throughout the country. Quoting from Proverbs 22:6, direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it the Ghana First Lady High Schools Bible Project is the former First Lady, Dr Ernestina Naadu Mills passionate gesture to reach out to tomorrows leaders, through the powerful word of God. In a speech, the still-mourning Naadu Mills said, the initiative was conceived in 2009 by her and Prof Mills after he won the 2008 general elections. She said, it was her wish to encourage and inspire Ghanaian students to become Godly, useful and productive citizens, to enable them become better adults, who are well vexed in the Holy Bible, adding, encouraging people in the Bible use continue to be my personal passion and service. Using her life as an example, Mrs. Mills said that: I cannot overstate the value of the Bible in giving meaning and direction to my life and providing the very much needed joy, peace and solace for me even on the cloudy days. The free special Bible distribution is an effort by Mrs. Mills with support from the SU Ghana and Tyndale Publishers of US, who are providing the total number of Bibles at a local market value of ten million Ghana Cedis (GH10, 000, 00) for free distribution. Mrs. Mills, who was passionate in her speech to students with special emphasis on certain portions of the holy book, had a special message dedicated to the students at the first page. The Bibles were designed with the red, gold, green colours of Ghanas flag, with her portrait embossed on them. Mrs. Naadu Mills expressed appreciation to all, especially the Scripture Union of Ghana, Tyndale Publishers and all who helped in diverse ways for the success of the initiative. The Headmaster of the New Juabeng SHS, Yaw Asante, who was full of praise for the former first lady, on behalf of the School, thanked Mrs Mills for remembering them in such a special time. He said it was the first time a past first lady has visited the school and also the first time a Bible project like this has been presented to students of the school in such a large quantity. The Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs. Helena Adjowa Ntsoso, who was also at the presentation noted that the best assets in the world is to own a Bible, adding that: "everything in this world will perish but the word of God will live forever."
