Korle Bu Closes Down Surgical Ward

The main surgical ward of the Korle Bu teaching Hospital is set to be closed down on Wednesday. This is to allow for renovation and restructuring of the facility. Speaking on Peace FM, Public Relations Officer of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Mustapha Salifu indicated the renovation has become necessary because majority of the machines in the ward are old and there is the need to change them, fix new ones and render better service to the patients. He however assured patients that there are other theatres (about 24) which are not being used for full capacity hence will cater for emergency surgical cases. We want to assure our patients that all emergency cases will still be operated on. Non-emergency cases will be rescheduled. By the end of October 2013, works will be completed. We are pleading with our patients to exercise restraintsthis is to serve them better he indicated.
