3 Crushed To Death In Terrible Accident

Two died on the spot and another at the Tema General Hospital when the KIA Rhino truck they were travelling on crashed into the rear of a slow-moving tipper truck at Shai Hills at dawn yesterday. The fourth occupant of the KIA Rhino was still in critical condition at the same hospital as at the time of filing this report yesterday afternoon. Eyewitnesses who spoke to The Finder said both vehicles were fully loaded and headed for Tema. The witnesses said the Man Diesel tipper truck, with registration number AS 8887-09, loaded with gravel, was moving rather slowly on the highway. The KIA Rhino GM 308-12 also loaded with foodstuffs - gari, plantain, cassava and cocoyam - on the other hand, was moving at a high speed and caught up with the truck in no time before crashing into the trucks rear, damaging the car and resulting in the instant deaths of two and another later at the hospital. Police sources from the area confirmed the incident. They said they have arrested the driver of the tipper truck to assist with investigations. Police, who moved quickly to assess the incident and convey the bodies away, were still making efforts to tow the trucks from the accident scene as at 2pm yesterday. The accident allegedly happened at about 5.30am last Monday when vision was said to be unclear.
