Watchman Dies Saving Master

A 50-year-old security man who rushed to a robbery scene in a swift response to his masters scream for help ended up dying instantly when one of the robbers allegedly opened fire on him on arrival at the scene. The deceased, Issaka Kasim, was caught in between his lower lip and the chin by the bullet that riffled through the head and came out through the back of the head. Even though the Master, Abubakar Fuseini, 40, gold dealer at Sampsonkrom, a suburb of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, had a narrow death escape, he sustained a serious bullet wound on his leg. According to sources that briefed this reporter, the gang of three armed robbers entered the shop of the victim at about 6:30pm last Wednesday as customers and asked for the cost of a blade weight of gold. While Fuseini tried to explain, the robbers suddenly pulled out pistols and pointed them at him with the demand that he surrender all the money and gold he had at the shop. When it became apparent to him that the robbers were bent on robbing the victim clean of all the money and gold he had on him, Fuseini was said to have tried to take cover under a table. That, however, annoyed the robbers, who fired indiscriminately, with a bullet hitting the leg of Fuseini. Fuseini screamed for help and the security man came rushing only to be shot. The robbers were said to have stolen GH100,000 before escaping. Confirming the story, the Obuasi Police Crime Officer, DSP Otoo Acheampong said the police acted swiftly upon hearing of the attack.
