Atubiga And Ex-President Rawlings On One Platform...

From the foul experiences other countries have suffered as a result of unguarded statements, Ghanaians have been entreated to refrain from similar trends which could tear the nation apart. Experience they say is the best teacher and this has informed a member of the National Democratic Congress, Stephen Atubiga to warn all to respect the final verdict of the Supreme Court. He was once sentenced to three days in jail for making prejudicial comments about the just-ended election petition. But given the chance to address a gathering at the Banquet Hall on the theme Justice, Peace and Reforms Will Strengthen Ghana, Mr. Atubiga stated that the Supreme Court remained the only legitimate structure that could protect our democracy. The program was organized to educate Ghanaians on issues of justice and peace and how these ingredients can strengthen democratic governance in the country. Mr. Atubiga advised that no one should undermine the integrity of the judges by playing down their final verdict on the election petition. As part of the NDCs communications team, he cautioned all political party spokesmen to be responsible when addressing the masses on the election petition. want to say that Ghana first before any political party, Ghana first before any leader and Ghana first before any interest We have to respect the verdict of the Supreme Court justices, he advised. Before making the speech former ex-President Rawlings and Kufour had delivered their speeches. Mr. Atubiga deemed it an honour to grace the occasion with the nations statesmen.
