Otumfuo To Meet Sidelined Board Members

Asante Kotoko owner Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will meet members of the clubs board, who have resigned or were sacked by ex-chairman KK Sarpong, on Thursday to try to find a better future for the club. The Asantehene is also to investigate why several members of the board he appointed were sacked under Dr. Sarpong as the turmoil in the Porcupine Warriors unravels. The King of the Ashantis appointed a ten-man board to help run the club but some resigned due to differences with outgoing Executive Chairman Dr KK Sarpong. His Royal Majesty tasked Dr Sarpong to try and reconcile all disgruntled board members after the team visited him at the Manyhia Palace last Thursday. However, Dr. Sarpong threw in the towel before he could fulfill the demands of the King which has led to the meeting with the sacked members. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II wanted to reunite all members as he looks to restructure the club following the exit of Dr. Sarpong. He will also expected to confirm Dr Sarpongs exit and appoint an interim management team for the club. Kotokos board members include Ambassador Karbral Blay-Amihere, Chairman of the National Media Commission, Paul Adu-Gyamfi, a Legal Practitioner and businessman Ricky Boakye Yiadom. Also are Mike Twum Barimah, a businessman, Alhaji Abu Lamine, Kofi Duah Adonten, former MD of Ghana Post, Mrs Agnes Osei-Peters, Businesswoman. Others are Wilberforce Mfum, Ex-Kotoko player and Bernard Akwasi Xiel of the National Circles Council. Alhaji Ahmed Bandoh, CEO, Bahmed Travel & Tours and the late Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah. Businessman Jerry Asare was later appointed onto the board.
