Muslims have been urged to complement efforts in protecting and strengthening national peace. Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, who gave the advice, commended the Zongo communities for their peaceful co-existence with other ethnic groups in the region. He expressed optimism that the Muslim youth would remain law abiding and enhance such social cohesion to sustain national unity. Mr Aidoo was addressing some Muslim leaders at Sunyani Zongo on Friday after they had said special prayers for the nation to mark the one year anniversary of the passing on of President John Evans Atta Mills. He said the best honour Ghanaians could bestow on the late president was to ensure that national peace was protected and maintained. Mr Aidoo said late President Mills stood and fought for peace in his social, economic and political life and Ghanaians needed to appreciate that effort by guarding against tendencies that could threaten national stability. Alhaji Seidu Mahmud, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Chief Imam, said Islam is a peaceful religion and gave the assurance that the Muslim leaders would play their role towards peace building.
